Subject: new Output causes jumps and crashes

Author: Benni, 2005-05-14 18:45:43
I just tried the new testing version and I have to say, I'm quite impressed. Songs now change almost instantly. But I notice jumps ranging from 1 to 10s around in the song. Sometimes lamip just exits.

This is on amd64. Any way I could give you more information or is this already known ?

20050531(test_without_outputthread) works well, without jumps etc. and is instant!

20050605 minimized the pauses to around 1-2 seconds. It's getting better :)

Should i ask you some things about your engine ?
*distro used
*glibc version (with or without nptl)
*gcc version
*kernel version
*alsa/oss/jack version (the one you are using)

it's very strange you got something like this. don't remember to remove you lamip.cfg file when you use a new core (well it depend but it's always better to start from the clean way) :-p

*ubuntu breezy
*2.3.5 (don't know)
*4.0.1 20050522 (prerelease)
*2.6.10 + different patches I think
*1.0.9

deleting the config file doesn't solve it

I still notice a delay (like Benni says, it's shorter now), but no problems with sound skipping or anything like that.

Benni, ok so you are using things that are not.. really stable (the gcc compiler for example is too new, maybe it introduce some things that could brake appz) for me :) for example the glibc current is 2.3.4 and not 2.3.5 :) (http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/)

geekoe notice that the last alsa version create sound problem on his computer

noodge : normal, with the gapless feature enable you should not have this problem (i hope) :)

so be aware when you install something that is really important for a system like the glibc/gcc and kernel.
