Subject: mp3 playback

Hi. I have just installed LAMIP. I have been playing MusePack-files without any trouble, but i am not able to play mp3s. I get this error-message: "MP3: Can't open stream". I have installed the lamip-inputMP3 plugin.

How do you launch and use lamip to having this ? i'm using it with my mp3 collection and all is ok. This probably an error because your trying reading a directory. I will work on this feature request this week (if i have time to do it).

I really need more than just 'having this error' to know what's wrong :)

I get the error when i try to run "lamip filename.mp3". But it work just fine from the default control plugin, so i guess it isn't a problem.

I have been using foobar2000 on windows, and i must say i am really happy to have lamip on linux (i don't like xmms much). I still miss a few things though. When will gapless playback be implemented? Is there (or will there be) any input-plugins for FLAC, Monkey's Audio and WavPack? It would be nice if my playlist was remembered from each time i used lamip, and if it remembered the last directory i was adding files from. It would also be nice to be able to add playlist-files. And when will the foobar-like control-plugin be available?

Anyway, thankyou for a great player.

As far as I know, everything you are asking for is being worked on right now. See http://freakforever.net/lamip/wiki/index.php/Main_Page for more info.

me too :)

> When will gapless playback be implemented?
gapless is on work by ciberfred, but first the core is made a bit cleaner (input and output are divided into separate threads)

> Is there (or will there be) any input-plugins for FLAC, Monkey's Audio...
FLAC input is already available... if monkey's audio and/or WavPack is OpenSource I can write a plugin :)

> It would also be nice to be able to add playlist-files
this is possible through input-playlist

> And when will the foobar-like control-plugin be available
is IS available... but still under heavy development by now... but it compiles already on x86_64 :)

so... have fun with lamip!
